No Bob, Ricochet is a metropolitan-area wireless data networking
technology that was adapted to allow Internet access back in 94/95.

They have always been very Mac-friendly (even Newton-friendly!)
probably due to the fact that their CTO is an old Apple alum (he
developed MacTCP back in the 80s.)
I have used their service since '95 and have been a happy customer. I
have used all three (orig, SX & SE) 'modems' with my old Duo's, my
Newtons, and my trusty 2400's.
They have deployed networks in many cities, but are getting out of
the business of selling access themselves (smart move)... I always
fire mine up when I'm travelling just to see if I have signal and
have been pleasantly surprised about 20% of the time to get access in
places they have not officially announced coverage in yet.
I usually get 38.4 speeds in the Seattle area, faster in the
neighborhood (Bothell) where they have a small 128k net going.
