Hi there,

I posted a while back regarding a 2300 in which I was trying to mount a 6GB
Drive from a Wallstreet machine. I thought that a followup post might help
someone in a similar situation. Well, someone pointed me to The Powerbook
Guy, and he sold me some brackets with a disclaimer that the drive had to be
less than ??mm (I don't remember exactly how thin) for it to fit. I looked
at the drive and it was the same height as the original drive, so I fgured
that it wouldn't be a problem.

When I got the brackets, I realized that it was a problem. The replacement
brackets are little plastic pieces that screw to the bottom of the drive and
to which the mounting brackets attach. hence, the bigger drive has to be
about 5-6 mm shorter than the original. Whooops.

The end result is this:

1.) if anyone wants to buy a set of these brackets, I have some available. I
paid $30 for them, so make an offer.

2.) I successfully mounted the drive by the tried and true "Jury Rig(TM)"
method. This involved strapping the brackets to the side of the drive using
small plastic cable ties (zip-ties). They push a little on the circuit
board, but all seems well. We shall see what this does to the drive's
longevity....I should have taken some pictures. I might have the top off
again to replace the PRAM battery, so maybe then...

Tom

PS: Hey, at least I didn't use duct tape.
