Eric,
The modem you have sounds like a 33.6 Performa with no wall brick. Where,
one asks, does it get it's 5V power source? Well it has an extra pin on the
serial port plug and it gets its power from the serial port, but not just
any serial port. Nooooo. This is a special serial port. Only Performas had
'em. So you might just try to plug that little guy into your serial port
first and see if it actually fits. Don't try too hard though. My guess is
that it won't work on your 280c.
The 14.4 works fine for me, but I think I would opt for a 33.6 very quickly
if the little GV one actually worked with a 280c.
