Sounds like it's time to install a new OS. Here is
what you do. Find a bootable SCSI CD-ROM and buy your
self a Mac OS. If you go for OS9 expect to pay around
$90 or so. I use OS8.6 and love it. So you could find
a discounted version of OS8.5 for around $20 on the
web and download the 8.6 upgrader.

Finding a bootable SCSI CD-ROM can be fun. Personally
I would goto the local swap meet and find an old
external 2x or 4x Apple CD-ROM. Who cares how slow it
is, all you care about is cheep. I have seen them in
the ten dollar range. You might want to check eBay
too.
