Beth,

This is a familiar problem with a Powerbook 2400.  It is a hardware 
problem, possibly on the Power Supply/IO card but more likely on the 
logic board or the CPU daughtercard.  Personally I suspect the logic 
board, because it has also happened to my 2400 with a Interware G3 CPU 
daughtercard installed.  If you're not under AppleCare, DT&T in Fremont, 
CA can fix it and has been recommended by many on this list.  Please let 
us know if you get get a confirmed diagnosis, and also if they repaired 
the card, or replaced it.
