I take it that you did all the usual things, such as making sure AppleTalk
was OFF?  The 280c's screen is so bright and readable that you can just keep
hitting the backlighting switch toward dim. At some point you'll push it and
the screen will go black.  Simply punch it up once.  I find this setting
perfectly readable, but it uses the minimum amount of power.  This is all in
addition to using the standard PB settings for "max. conservation" or
however it's worded.  Doing all this, I get a bit over an hour on a Type IV.
