I think the cube would be brilliant if it had been put out as a
monitor-free iMac. Drop the price by not including the speakers and
having a 450-500 Mghz g3 instead. Of course they can't go back to that
now, but there are a lot of users that need the larger monitor and would
like to upgrade to something better, cooler AND affordable. If the cube
were $1,099, how would that change opinons about it?
By putting it at the price range they chose, it automatically puts it
into the premium mac user category. If PC users had an affordable
alternate to upgrade to a cube, keeping their monitor, speakers and USB
periph's, its only reducing the size of their CPU but nat having to
reinvest in all new Hardware AND software.
A cheap cube with a not quite so fast processor will still be attractive
for a lot of users, mac and not mac. The premium priced cube can not do
that.
I'm in favor of a ice or indigo G3 Cube!
