I use several different suppliers, as I also buy batteries for hand-held 
radios.  The one I use the most is E.H. Yost (www.batteriesamerica.com).  For 
the Type II battery you will need 10 x 4/5's "A" cells.  Sanyo makes some 
2150 mAh cells which will give over 2 hrs easy on a 2300 (my experience, 
YMMV).  

Cracking the case takes some patience, but is possible.  Oftimes one side is 
less well sealed and you can crack that side first.  Make sure you get 
batteries with solder tabs, soldering directly to a battery is not advisable.
