I've a bunch of stuff I need to get rid of but have hesitated to post it to
any groups for fear of being a business. Businesses in groups like this can
be annoying, at least they are to me. I think it would be nice to have a
kind of non-commercial, yet nonetheless financial, posting place. Something
civilians could use but not people who did this as a side business.
That would be completely unenforceable of course, How could you tell if
someone like Mark had a business or was just trying to thin the pile in the
basement? But it should be the seller's job to keep his list of stuff up to
date and post things, not a maintenance job for some poor list slave.
Would it work to just let people post lists with accurate subject lines,
like by machine or era or function (Duo 280 stuff, or ethernet cards or
power supplies or Docks)? There is always comp.sys.mac.wanted for that kind
of thing. There are also local newsgroups, like seattle.users.mac where
people post local items they want to move out of the closet.
...another opinion.
