I recall that I would notice the bottom of my previous 2300 would get rather
warm and on occasion the palm rest over the battery would also. I don't know
what the temperatures got to but I'm sure that it was nothing detrimental.

Usually I would notice that the battery got warm after a restart and the
battery had been fully charged. As if the Power Manager forgot it was
charged and tried to charge it again. Didn't happen often though.

Talk about hot laptops, I used to have a Wallstreet II (233MHz 14" screen)
that I quickly found out was NOT a laptop. The first time I used it on my
lap it warmed up gradually enough after booting that I didn't notice the
heat building. After about a half hour I notice my left leg felt funny and
quickly pulled the thing of my lap. My leg smarted for a couple hours after
that.

After that I only used it on my lap if I had a board to support it (allowing
it to breath underneath). The keys on the left side also got very warm
although this was nice in the wintertime ;^)
