It's not the glass, it's the the sheet of plastic on
top of the glass. Whether or not various cleaners
contain polymer-hostile chemicals, it's no urban
legend that Apple only approves certain cleaning
methods. Certainly if the polymer were to be
compromised, it might provide less lateral
reinforcement to the glass. How likely that is in
practice is another question entirely.
