A tape drive - linear access - is not recognized by a Mac the same as a HD or other
removable media drive such as Syquest or Iomega that is a random access devioce. A
tape will not be mounted on the desktop - there was a special software package which
allowed a tape to be treated as a regular volume. The variuos SCSI utilities - SCSI
Probe, PowerTools et al - will show the drive as visible on SCSI chain - but not
access or mount tapes. Buy a copy of Retrospect Personal Backup (excellent program -
quirkly interface but very powerful) or similar program - they access the tape drive
directly - ie use there own driver.
