I believe the speaker signal (and power) actually comes through a
separate two-conductor cable that plugs in just above the video cable
connector (threaded underneath the cable itself). It is pretty easy
to knock it loose, damage it, or just forget to plug it in when
you're reassembling a Duo. That's probably what's happened here. One
only need remove the keyboard to check and see if it's still in place.
