They may be part of the OS install when you do a custom installation of the
browser etc.
I went with IE5 because it has the latest security certificates (?). I've
gotten to the point where I just install the latest version of things
because I have too many Macs to screw with. Rather than fart with resolving
conflicts that come with mixing new and old I just put up with some bloating
and slowness. But that's me. Although I won't go beyond OS8.6 with a non G3
machine. Heck, my iMac still runs OS8.6. But I did go to OS9 on my G4 to get
this cool @mac.com address ;^)
I'm sure there are more streamlined browsers available but I've never had
the free time to play with them. I hear that iCab is great for older systems
while providing decent speed and compatibility with lower memory
requirements (small footprint?).
Hope this helps some. Speaking of never having enough time I'm addicted to
this list...I gotta get back to work ;^)
