The only unfortunate thing about 8.5 is that is slows a 2300 down. A lot.
This is just personal experience, but when I upgraded my 2300 to 8.5,
startup took three times as long, there is a noticeable rename/file creation
lag (you'll notice your system will pause if you open an application and
have Recent Applications enabled in your Apple Menu Options). I did stick
with it, however, because it had some indisposable features, such as
Sherlock. Maura (my 2300) is faring fairly well, although she hasn't been
used much lately. She's still up for sale (my highest offer has been $300 so
far) with a perfect screen, Apple MiniDock (yes, the rare one), Floppy
Drive, AC adapter, and a few apps on the hard drive. Feel free to contact me
for it.
