I thought *everybody* knew that Apple Menu Options was a dog and should be
dropped like a hot potato in favor of BeHeirarchic or other third-party
thing.  And even with that, keep the recent crap turned off, since it
typically does some variation on keeping aliases of things.  The speed hit
comes from having to constantly check/resolve these aliases.
