It doesn't do anything when I start it out of the dock on battery power. I 
don't have an AC adapter for it, unfortunately. When I turn it on inside 
the dock, the dock comes on (fan makes a noise) but there's no Apple 
startup sound.

I did the power reset idea, and also left it out overnight. I will try a 
new battery and see if that doesn't work.

Can anyone tell me if the Duo Dock Plus has a better power supply the the 
"tick" prone regular Dock? It's the one with ethernet built in -- love 
that!  I hope my new Dock doesn't go south on me.
