Good morning All, as a new Duo 2300c owner I have been reading and learning about battery and RAM saving schemes. My system is OS 8.1, 56MB of real RAM, VM set to 26MB for a total of 82MB RAM, cache set to 3584K and no ram disk. I very carefully went through all of my extensions and control panels, turning off all that I did not need, this resulted in a Mac OS "load" of 11.6 MB, as reported in About This Computer. I then turned ON ALL of the extensions and control panaels, except those that I did not have hardware for, printers, GV Modems, etc. ....I did not turn off very many....this resulted in a Mac OS "load" of 11.4 MB, for a savings of 1.7%......so my question is, where is the power(battery) and RAM savings in turning off extensions and CP's ?, at the loss of some functionality.
