Yes, those "adapters" really exist. I think they're commonly called "switch box". I have one here, on my desk, to share my Apple Studio Display 17 and my Apple keyboard with my B&W G3 and a dummy PC I use from time to time to do contracting work. To support both the PC and my G3, I picked a USB-based connector for the keyboard and the mouse, but you should be able to find an ADB one.
