Heyas,
I bought a Duo 230 off of eBay last month on a whim. I always wanted a
laptop computer. Got the Duo and a DuoDock for $50. After investing in
batteries, she is up and running nicely. I was playing around with it
last
night and was surprised to find out it has a built-in microphone. Very
cool. I do have a question about the dock. How can you tell if it has
the
lid upgrade I've heard about?
On the top of the dock (the white part) are their lines running front to
back? Or is the top smooth? Smooth = Color ready. Or, if there is a gap
between the top of your 230 and top of the opening on the front.
On a side note... any opinions on what portable computer would give the
best
(use your own definition of "best") computing experience for under $500.
Or
under $1000. Or under $1500. Or under $2000? The top of the line
Powerbooks always seem out of reach for me.
Under $500:
PowerBook 540c and Duo 2300c come to mind
Under $1000
PowerBook 1400, 2400, 3400. All great machines with differnt features.
Under $1500
PowerBook G3 WallStreets (usually with the 13 inch screen and 266mHz)
Under $2000
Might as well find another $500 and get a Titanium G4 ...
