I've got a 2400 with a Newer CPU upgrade, and the L2 cache seems to have failed. The Powerbook runs, its just slow; the cache automagically sets itself to disabled at startup, and won't allow itself to be turned on by the Newer CP or any other tools I've tried. I've followed lots of suggestions for software ways of dealing with this; thanks to all now made them. I'm pretty much convinced that the cache has a real hardware problem, perhaps the result of running too hot for too long. So what now? Newer is out of business. It looks like my options are: a) Live with it. b) Buy a used 2400 with an upgrade & combine it with my existing disk & memory. The advantage of this is that I'd have lots of parts to keep at least one of the machines running. The main disadvantage is that I'm really cheap... c) Find somebody who wants to sell an upgrade card. I suspect that's not going to happen, but am looking. d) Fix it? Is there any possibility of fixing such a thing? Bob -- -------------- Bob Jacobsen ([EMAIL PROTECTED], 510-486-7355, fax 510-495-2957) ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
