That's odd, it should eject. There must be a dialog box that's presenting
itself when you try to shut down (i.e. There are others connected to this
Macintosh are you sure...blah, blah, blah) and it's waiting for a reply (OK,
Yes, cancel etc.). Since you can't see it then there's no way to dismiss it.
If so you need a keyboard to type a Return or Enter to dismiss it, again
depending on what it's saying. Maybe you can turn on Talking Alerts so that
it reads the dialog that is being presented, pop the Dock lid off, open the
Duo lid (screen) and hit return or command period (.) to cancel.
Did OS8.1 have talking alerts? Seems like I recall it having that option.
