>Is anyone out there still using Claris Emalier on their PBs?
I played around with Entourage for a few days, but readily went back to
Claris Emailer. I think I could learn to like Entourage, but Emailer is
svelte and still does all I need. I also have no wish at this time to
update/convert all of the applescripts and OneClick buttons, nor learn
new habits.
I've also been using OS 8.6 for 2 weeks now. I'm still oscillating about
reverting to OS 8.1 as the default. Finder operations seem to work in
slow motion under OS 8.6 (actually more like a lag caused by cocking for
the operation and then finally executing), yet AppleScripts are faster.
I do find I'm often a few clicks ahead of the system/finder and those
clicks get lost. Yet I'm able to run some OS 8.5+ applications that I
like.
Some applications, such as Entourage and Word 2001 are very sluggish,
although Excel 2001 is faster than Excel 5. Word 2001 & Word 6 don't
like to co-exist; perhaps an extension library problem, perhaps because
the have the same type/creator code. (But I shouldn't complain about
Office 2001 since the minimum system requirements are a 120 mHz
processor.)
Within Emailer, under OS 8.6 the Applescripts are faster, searches seem
faster, and everything else the same except for occasional pauses going
to the next message.
This is on a Duo 2300c (100 mHz 603e) with 24MB RAM + Ram Doubler.
