Thanks for the info on the Etherdock. I originally purchased it 4 years
ago because at the time it was the right price for getting access to a
SCSI port (as well being immediately available--all the other docks
seemed to be discontinued at almost the same time). Two years ago I
started using it to synch files with my Powerbook G3 and that is when I
found out its limited usefulness for ethernet using AppleTalk. I have no
problems with certain files but others crash. I thought maybe something
got corrupted or maybe I screwed something up.
Before I purchased my G3, I used it for printing on my 2300 and it
performed flawlessly.

I would appreciate it if and when you find out the cause of the
AppleTalk crashes you let me know. Using the ethernet is so much faster
than the seemingly interminable "Classic" AppleTalk using the serial
ports. I still find it (the etherdock, that is) very useful and my 2300
is docked to it whenever it (the computer that is) is not on the road
with me.
