>I just received the Mac OS X pre-order from Apple and >it got me thinking. Is there any way we can increase >the ram of the 2400c beyond 80MB? >I'd like to one day upgrade to OS X, but think that >80MB probably isn't enough........or am I forever >doomed to System 9????? There are RAM upgrades for up to 112M. I didn't believe they existed but then someone on this list sent this screeen shot: http://mike.lgarde.com/2400c.gif These ram modules are pricy. I believe it was around $350. As for using laptops as desktops, I rather hate the idea. For example, the disk drives on laptops trail their desktop bretheren in a big way. Laptop drives top out at 5,400 RPM. The $200 disk drive in my desktop goes 10,000 RPM. That means half the latency! Plus then there's the screens. The Titanium has a screen that is something like 1150 x 768. My desktop uses TWO 1280 x 1024 monitors. Can you cay cowabunga? And this is on a 5 year old Mac 8500. So that's why I have a 2400. Before a trip, I download all my working data to it and walk off with only 4.4 lbs in hand. And I leave the 120 lb computer at home. Mike ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
