I think you're forgetting one possibility:
Maybe your powerbook is being used by a castaway on some island in
the south pacific, perhaps to crack open coconuts? If this is the
case I suppose you'll get it back with a thank-you note some four
years from now.
OT: Is it okay to post For Sale ads here? I've got an upgraded
