Hi,

I just received a new-in-box Asante Micro EN/SCSI adapter and can't
get it to work. I'm using it with a Duo 2300c running OS 8.1, a
MiniDock, and version 5.6.1 of the Asante driver (it was the latest
version I could find on their Web site). Installation went like a
breeze, the LED lights are on, and I'm using a crossover cable that I
know is good because it works beautifully with my iMac and my
Powerbook 520.

I've confirmed that Ethernet is selected and AppleTalk is active on
both computers, and also that file sharing is enabled on both
computers. I've made sure that sharing privileges have been selected
for each hard drive, and all enclosed folders. On the Duo, I've
removed the Apple Ethernet drivers from the system folder, and there
is just the Asante Alternate Ethernet drive installed. I've restarted
the Duo several times with this configuration, all to no avail.

It should work, but it doesn't. I can get a serial LocalTalk
connection to work between the Duo and the iMac; and I can get an
Ethernet connection to work between the iMac and other computers. But
I can't get the Duo and the iMac to recognize the Ethernet network.
When I go to the Chooser and click on AppleTalk, no file server
appears. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I know this subject has come up before, and I apologize for asking
about it again.

Thanks,

Nancy
