I was running the same setup last year when I had a 2300. It sounds like
you've done everything right. However I don't recall needing to remove the
Apple ethernet extensions. Did the installer do this or you?
Also try zapping the PRAM just to clear it's mind. I know that zapping the
PRAM always causes AppleTalk to default to the modem/printer port forcing me
to set the PowerBook back to alternate ethernet. Worth a try...
