Dave.....do you like playing with soldering irons?  Does the scent of rosin 
core solder give you a rush? If so, try rebuilding your battery.  Couple of 
places on the Web sell Sanyo 4/5's "A" cells which work fine in the Duo Type 
III batt.  You'll need 10 pieces, get the "tab" cells (to solder them 
together).  

BTW, 'Listers, I found a couple of cheap 9.6V "AA" packs for sale at our 
local "junque" shop for $6 each (for remote control cars).  Tore them apart, 
cracked open that old Type I sitting in the parts bin, and swapped cells. 
 So, for $10 or so (used the other cells in my amateur radio HT), I've got a 
spare batt. for the 2300.   Runs it for an hour or so on the 2300, 1.2 hrs on 
the souped up 280c.

Should I start rebuilding batteries for 'Listers?
