I'm late, but I'd like to add my encouragement.

The keyboard. If you've been using a Duo, the 2400 will not be that much of
an adjustment. I can stretch an octive on a piano, yet I have no problem
touch typing and prefer it to regular sized laptops I've tried out. As
other's have mentioned, the key's sizzors action is superior to the Duo's

The screen. It's a bit over a page wide, so word processing shouldn't be a
problem. For web browsing, it can get cluttered, but it's not a problem for
me.

80 megs Ram. There are lots of pros and cons with using Virtual memory, but
I leave it on and it works fine for me. My advice is to settle on 8.6 which
is the most suitable system for the 2400, settle on the applications that
are current to 8.6 and you'll get years of use out of it.

Internet Mobility. I've used mine with a PC card modem for dial-up, with a
USB card for wireless Ricochet modem, and at this moment with an ethernet
PC card to a DSL modem (and Cable modem in the past). So I can vouch that
there is no flavor of internet that you can't access with a 2400.

The downside. At some point battery life will be a serious problem. Get
used to the idea that you're gonna be plugged in more often than not.
Still, that's not a problem with me as I have a Madisonline I carry around
and my old, ugly repaired Apple AC is at home under the couch.

PowerManagement. This is the weakest link of the 2400 and can be a real
pain in the ass. Just be familiar with how to recognize when it's corrupted
and how to reset and you'll be fine.

iBook. Even if it were a quantum leap beyond the 2400 I wouldn't have one
because of it's huge size. There's not reason for a laptop to be that big.

Hope this helps, good luck!
