That was me. I successfully got it to work with a VST FireWire Hard Disk.
That card did not belong to me.

Since then, I have purchased the CBFW2 which works fantastic. I had major
issues with conflicting versions of QuickTime, FireWire and the drivers. All
three have to be on the same page. This was rather difficult with 8.6, but
it does now work properly with FW 2.3.3, QT 4.1.2 and the newest drivers for
the card.
