Different take on above, but different situation. May help though.


Have been travelling for most of the past twenty years. I have 
usually been based in a new place/country for at least six months, if 
not a year or more.

As such, I have found it useful and cost effective to retain a 
dependable server back in one country throughout, and pickup local 
access on whichever is their most flexible deal. Often find a per 
minute deal, without subscription.

Email address stays constant as you just access your home mailbox 
rather than the one that comes with the local account.

You usually end up with a full-service ISP, country-wide access, and 
all at a decent rate. Even have someone to talk to when things don't 
seem to be flowing right.
