Good points aboutthe DA adapter. If it is a Germna one, maybe it wouldn't
work with Italian phones. However, that would surprise me.
FreePPP and Open Transport are not sufficient to connect via the express
modem. The express modem is a lot like a winmodem from the PC world. It
requires special software to work (In the case of a WinModem, it requires
windows). The express modem requires the Apple software to be installed,
and can then be turned on or off by the user. If you are not using your
modem, it should be turned off, for it uses processor cycles and extra
power.
