I've been working on resuscitating two 2300s (you may recall the tones of
death and the weird video).

I fixed Tones Of Death by reinstalling a clean system. However tones had a
cracked screen which lit up and had a partial image. So I pulled the screen
from Weird Video and put it on tones. When I booted I got a dark screen
although I could hear it going through booting up. So I shut it down and
tried a screen I have from a 280c. Same thing. Then I tried a screen from a
250. Same dark screen. This stinks.

So I put the screen back on Weird, and installed the hard drive from Tones
since it had a clean system. When I boot up I get the same dark screen! What
is going on here? At first I thought Tones had screwed up the screens
somehow so I tested them on a Duo280c and they work (well, I couldn't try
the 2300 screen since a 280c can't support it).

One more thing. In a bright light, I can make out an image on the screens. I
can see the desktop is there. It's as if the lamp is being kept from
lighting up. Either the lamp is not getting power because I zapped something
(although I can't believe I zapped two motherboards) or the screens are
being prevented from lighting up as if the Duo is in the Dock (not sleeping
as this would mean no image at all).

I have zapped PRAM, reset power manager, let them sit for days without power
or PRAM batteries and I've even swapped components.

So why is the lamp not lighting? Is there a fuse on the motherboard for the
lamps power and I zapped it. Do the dumb things think they're in a Dock?!?

Is there any hope for our hero?!?!?! HELP!
