<< I am looking to sell my Duo 230 (no, this is not an ad, I have a buyer :),

but before I go through with the transaction, I want to wipe my hard drive

clean. I had previously stored confidential information on the machine, and

I want to make sure that it is unrecoverable. The machine came preinstalled

with Mac OS, and I had done all my file transfers through simple AppleTalk

file sharing, so I never needed a dock or floppy drive. Now, I can't seem to

figure out any way to reformat the hard drive. So, is there any way to do

this, or is there at least some free/shareware program that will make

recently deleted files unrecoverable? Thanks! >>

How much RAM do you have???? I set up a RAM disk with a basic operating
system with networking capabilities and drive setup (I suggest a network boot
disk from Apple). I started the computer from the RAM disk and networked it
to another computer with Mac OS system installer disk images. I formatted
the drive from the RAM disk and copied the disk images over and reinstalled
the operating system.
Not the best way to do it, especially if your Duo crashes during any step,
but it works.
Good luck,
Andrew
