I didn't spend a lot of time messing with it, but I never really got it boot
reliably off the dock's HD unless I removed the duo's internal HD. I used my
dock for awhile as a desktop by sticking a completely naked 280c logic board
(with some memory) onto the docking port.

One thing you can try is sticking the floppy in before hitting the power. I
bet you could also use the startup key combinations to make it use the
internal drive as well. My dock is currently HDless so I can't really test
anything for you.
