Jack: You definitely need to encode - that's what combines the two fork
mac files to a single string for transmission. I've had very good
success sending files uncompressed and selecting Base 64 encoding for
Windows users. Don't forget to add the appropriate .xxx extension.
If you have StuffIt Deluxe, you can compress the file before sending
(.sit or .sea for mac users, .zip for others; some recipients have had
problems with the Windows Self-extracting files StuffIt makes). I've
never used the compression option within Emailer.
The default Emailer encoding is AppleDouble; supposedly it will encode
for both platforms.
If you wish to change the default go to: Setup->Accounts, double click
the account you wish to use, select options.
If you still have problems, search the archives at
<http://www.tidbits.com>. They had an issue a while back on cross
platform transfers.
