I believe it does work. Although a bit flaky.... I've had success with 8.6 using Card Support 1.3.5 and 1.4.1, and 9.x with 1.4.1 and 1.4.4b, and all sorts of stuff. The trick for me seems to be not inserting it directly after a boot, but rather after about 10 minutes of doing other stuff (a bit of mail, a bit of web), and then it mounts fine and works reliable until the next shutdown.
