I pretty much went thru what you're going thru. As many others have discovered, many 32-bit cards will work on a non-cardbus 2400, but not very consistantly. Some things work better than other, but USB for me was nothing but aggravation. Even with the upgrade it's still somewhat flaky, but I'm not sure if it's hardware or software (will clean install soon) but am dissatisfied enough to add lack of reliable USB to the list of reasons why I'm gonna spring for a Ti-book soon. . .
