Dealmac (www.dealmac.com) mentioned that Apple abruptly ended sales
of ibooks. It would be nice if they would again produce a very small
laptop like the duo series.

I just got my second duo, a 280 (I got a 2300c for my wife a couple
of months ago) for schlepping around. It's a lovely little cpu, but
I'm already running into some problems that I'm hoping someone may
have dealt with successfully before. It's running System 7.1.

1. When the computer gets warmed up, the backlighting keeps going in
an out of sleep mode, literally at a tap. Makes using it a little
difficult. I don't think it's a loose connection, because no amount
of tapping causes this as it's starting up. Only after it's booted up
and warmed up for a while.

2. Trying to figure out how to upgrade it to 7.5. I've tried using
the add-on floppy drive and the disk set I made for backing up my old
190. My next try will be with a microdock, cd player and old system
cd from my retired performa 637.

Of course, #2 is kind of a moot point if I can't deal with #1. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Brian
