You would be far better served (technically and economically) to dump a (miserably slow) 2300c/100/56 for, say, around $250-350 and buy a 2400c/180/80 which would be MUCH faster, even not upgraded to G3 for around $450-550, and MUCH more compatible with your G4 with Ethernet, USB, Firewire, 56k, Airport, OS 8.6 or 9.1 possibilities thereby certainly saving a lot of time.
