If you have a G3 Mac, most will support 2 drives per IDE chain (with the 
exception of the first beige G3's).  Get an adapter for the 2.5" drive to 
allow it to connect to the IDE cable, boot up and backup the drive (onto tape 
or onto the desktop's internal drive).  

I've done this several times, works great.  Think I still have my adapter, if 
you can't find one locally.
