The lower prices do seem to be for 1.5" modules. But
512MB SODIMMs are very new in any form factor and
should continue to drop in price for awhile as the
supply of the underlying higher-density chips ramps
up.

Right now 256MB modules seem to be the sweet spot for
around $90 (in the 1.25" form factor). Unless there is
some immediate critical need for >384MB, I would buy a
256MB module and wait for prices on 512MB modules to
fall. If they drop below $300, which Karnak the
Magnificent predicts will occur within several months,
there is no financial loss (even if the 256MB isn't
resold), and in the meantime you might learn you don't
really need it at all.
