I have successfully opened one of these (and several PC notebook
batteries) with a homemade nylon wedge and a small mallet (screwdriver
handle), you just place the wedge at the joint and tap it, continue
round the case several timed and if you are lucky the case will
eventually separate with no loss of plastic and very little damage.
Not as easy as sawing it but well worth the effort.
(Nb my first few attempts were a mess, there is a knack to this)
Now if I could only find 4/5AF batteries at a reasonable price in the
UK!
(AF appears to be the usual UK designation for what is usually
referred to as A in this list)
