Get a Newton 2100... They cost about the same US 400, and with lithium
batteries, they should last almost the 12 hours. And with plenty of software
ripe for downloading, it would provide some entertainment (I have heard that
they can be used as mp3 players, but I have not yet confirmed this)... And,
IMO, would be a better investment than a lot of batteries. :-)

Hey, I am even willing to trade my MP 2000 for your PB 2400 :-)
