Heheh...I know this--that's what's keeping me back at the moment from
reserving time at my ISP to eliminate all of the other variables to test
each workable script/modem/configuration. I have to devote a day on at least
2 identically configured 2400s to chase this, also with "a plethora of
modems". I DO believe it will take incredible hours to zero in on
speed/stability issues so delay is still the order of the day. Your comment
below mirrors what I want to better isolate.
I don't know how you can stand to be tethered to an external modem
though--admittedly internal ones can give more problems, but I've had little
problem with PC card modems and I feel EVERY little bit of extraneous bulk
on/around my 2400 (I can live with the external stuff travelling detached in
another bag). After iB2, I appreciate my Type III PC slots ever more (which,
BTW, should also be BlueTooth compatible soon).
