Not likely, but very soon it will not power at all
anymore and your book will not eject if it happens to
be in there at the time. Happenned to me I had to
manually extract my 2300.

Yes, fix the power supply. The problem is a capacitor
in the PS has gone out of tollerance due to age and
heat (not load). Specificaly it is C28 a 100mfd 25V
cap. Costs about 99 cents at Radio Scrap. Replace this
cap and it will be good as new for another 10 years. I
replaced mine and it has been fine ever since.
