+ +Yes, fix the power supply. The problem is a capacitor
+ +in the PS has gone out of tollerance due to age and
+ +heat (not load). Specificaly it is C28 a 100mfd 25V
+ +cap. Costs about 99 cents at Radio Scrap. Replace this
+ +cap and it will be good as new for another 10 years. I
+ +replaced mine and it has been fine ever since.

Do not try this yourself unless you are used to working on power
supplies, some of the capacitors in them can hold a fairly hefty
charge for some hours after turning off.
Either unplug the dock 24 hours before opening the power supply or get
it done by someone who knows what they are doing.
That said the repair is quite easy provided you are happy soldering
and you are careful.
Good luck and don't let the above warning put you off (unless you have
a weak heart or a pacemaker - then power supply repair is OUT!!)
