what about internal 2gig IDE drive? will this be a no no for SCSI disk mode?
any second opinions?

I had a 10 GB HD on a Duo 2300c with no problems. I say 'had' because
I no longer own the Duo.
However, you shouldn't SCSI disk mode even if your partitions are
less than 4 GB, it spells *big* trouble for the integrity of your
data. I've experienced it myself, so don't say I didn't warn you. It
may work once and the next time all hell will break loose, sad macs
and everything.
