Thanks for resolving my problem. The combination of Sleeper and Okey
dokey pro looks like it will do the job, but OD pro is unavailable in
any version on the web. Mark's link to Version tracker sends me to
zdnet's download section (for PC stuff, BTW), and searching zdnet
returns a null result.
Maybe the latest version (2.0.3) is flaky, isn't being supported due
to it being freeware, or finally, the writer got fed up with creative
screwups and wrath of his users. Okey Dokey's pros/cons were
discussed earlier this year. Please don't get started again! While
enlightening, the energy discussion was enough, thank you. And I
thought that I was going to get a PC flamejob for blaming this on my
wife!
BTW, the motivations for shutting down: Waste not, want not. Computer
used maybe once every three days. Computer is in Mexico, where power
voltage is unstable. Damaging spikes, power outages (data loss)
frequent. Nongeek partner leaves browser on at pages that generate
enough interaction with the computer so as to defeat the remote
access timeout resulting in no telephone access to house. Finally,
there is a little geek in the household who really gets into buttons.
Sort of like Eric's monkey preamble.
Would anyone care to e-mail me a copy of v2.0.3 of this massive (37k)
bit of software?
